The thesis titled "Contribution of the Corruption Perception Index to Costa Rican Economic Growth: A Behavioral Economics Perspective", investigates how the perception of corruption impacts Costa Rica's economic growth. Using a behavioral economics approach, the study spans from 1997 to 2021 and explores the relationship between the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) and the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The research proposes that understanding the behaviors that lead to corruption and its perception can clarify its impact on economic development. Statistical methods are applied to analyze the correlation between the CPI and GDP growth, suggesting that interventions based on behavioral economics could promote less corrupt behavior, thus contributing to economic growth. The thesis structures its argument through five main chapters covering the background and theoretical justification, the methodological framework used, an analysis of the obtained results, and finally, presents conclusions and recommendations based on the findings. This work seeks to offer a novel approach to the issue of corruption, linking economic theory with behavioral practices to suggest improvements in public policies and the economic development of Costa Rica.
