Abstract

El presente informe de investigación consta de dos partes: la traducción del libro Múltiple Intelligences Grade 6: Teaching kids the way they learn y el trabajo de investigación de mismo. El libro traducido pertenece al género discursivo educativo y se basa en la filosofía de las inteligencias múltiples. El trabajo de investigación se divide en tres capítulos. El primer capítulo se refiera a los aspectos generales del texto original como la intención del autor, el lector del TO y del TT, las referencias culturales, la función del texto, el tipo de discurso, los métodos y técnicas de traducción empleados. El segundo capítulo trata de la adaptación cultural. Aquí, se utilizó la traducción comunicativa y la adaptación, específicamente. Estos métodos se aplicaron en juegos de palabras, anagramas, canciones, lugares, refranes, alfabeto, lenguaje de señas, epónimos entre otros. El tercer capítulos se refiere al uso del modo imperativo. Se presenta un análisis del uso del modo imperativo en la lengua original y la lengua meta. Luego, se ofrece una explicación de los verbos causativos presentes en el texto original y que se pueden confundir con los verbos en forma imperativa. También, se presentan varias sugerencias para traducir estos verbos tan específicos y finalmente se ofrece una lista de verbos imperativos más importantes del texto original y sus respectivas opciones de traducción.

This research report consists of two parts: the translation of the book Multiple Intelligences Grade 6: Teaching kids the way they learn and the research work itself. The translated book belongs to the educational discursive genre and is based on the philosophy of multiple intelligences. The research paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the general aspects of the original text such as the author's intention, the TO and TT reader, the cultural references, the function of the text, the type of discourse, the translation methods and techniques employed. The second chapter deals with cultural adaptation. Here, communicative translation and adaptation were used specifically. These methods were applied in word games, anagrams, songs, places, sayings, alphabet, sign language, eponyms, among others. The third chapter deals with the use of the imperative mode. An analysis of the use of the imperative mood in the original language and the target language is presented. Then, an explanation of the causative verbs present in the original text that can be confused with verbs in the imperative form is given. Also, several suggestions for translating these very specific verbs are presented, and finally, a list of the most important imperative verbs in the source text and their respective translation options is provided.
