A comprehensive evaluation of the management of water, wastewater and solid waste from the process at Beneficio Juan León V. e Hijos, S.A. was carried out. Heredia, Costa Rica, in order to detect improvement needs, provide recommendations to increase its environmental efficiency and reduce the impact of this activity on the environment, especially in the Burío River. The benefit under study is classified as small; Its production process is carried out in two macro processes: pulping and washing the coffee. During the study, the diagram of the production process and the treatment system was prepared, water consumption was estimated, the wastewater streams entering the treatment system were characterized, and their efficiency was evaluated. Likewise, the production of weeds, the main solid waste, was estimated and its management was analyzed. The quality of the receiving channel of the final effluent from the plant was evaluated before and after the discharge, to assess the possible impact of the activity on the river. From the evaluation carried out, it can be deduced that, in general terms, the management of process water, wastewater and solid waste at the Beneficio Juan León e Hijos, S.A. is not appropiate. However, the discrepancies and limitations can be corrected in the short and medium term with a relatively low financial investment, personnel training, and the establishment of procedures for the monitoring and control of the processes.
