This study investigates the conditions of the sidewalk network in the Heredia district by implementing a walkability index and gathering user feedback, with the aim of contributing to social well-being through proposals for technical improvements and renovations. It employs a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques, and features a nested concurrent methodological design, which allowed for work at two different levels. At the first level, the focus was on quantitative data, with an emphasis on variable selection and fieldwork, while at the second level, the study utilized qualitative data, such as those resulting from the participatory workshop and the public survey; finally, the data collected at both levels were analyzed during the results analysis phase. For the sample, 45 sampling points were systematically defined at intervals of three hundred meters at most locations, due to the spatial variability of the study area.
