Resumen
La actividad cafetalera supone grandes retos para su sostenibilidad debido a la cantidad de agroquímicos utilizados en la fase agrícola, observándolo desde la cadena global en sus enfoques ambientales, económicos y sociales, la bioeconomía logra abrir oportunidades para la sostenibilidad de esta actividad. Costa Rica posee una Estrategia Nacional de Bioeconomía, sin embargo, se debe reflexionar si la institucionalidad y los esquemas de gobernanza representa un soporte o una barrera para la implementación de la bioeconomía en la actividad cafetalera.
The coffee activity faces great challenges for its sustainability due to the amount of agrochemicals used in the agricultural phase. From the global chain in its environmental, economic and social approaches, the bioeconomy opens up opportunities for the sustainability of this activity. Costa Rica has a National Bioeconomy Strategy; however, it is necessary to reflect on whether the institutional framework and governance schemes represent a support or a barrier for the implementation of the bioeconomy in the coffee industry.
