Resumen
Desde 1930 hasta 1950 el panorama de la actividad teatral varió notablemente en relación con la época anterior. La naciente actividad cinematográfica competía fuertemente en los escenarios y el gusto del público seguía prefiriendo las zarzuelas y operetas.
Entre los pocos autores que estrenaron sus piezas durante esta época, destaca H. Alfredo Castro Fernández, cuya producción se analiza ampliamente en este volumen. Asimismo, se estudia la crítica que lo acompaño a lo largo de las dos décadas, especialmente, León Pacheco, Abelardo Bonilla y Moisés Vincenzi. Se incluye, por último, un amplio recuento de los espectáculos presentados en San José entre 1933 y 1950, las representaciones y las películas censuradas, según informan los principales periódicos y revistas de la época.
From 1930 to 1950 the panorama of theatrical activity varied notably in relation to the previous era. The nascent cinematographic activity competed strongly on the stage and the public's taste continued to prefer operettas and zarzuelas. Among the few authors who premiered their pieces during this time, H. Alfredo Castro Fernández stands out, whose production is extensively analyzed in this volume. Likewise, the criticism that accompanied him throughout the two decades is studied, especially León Pacheco, Abelardo Bonilla and Moisés Vincenzi. Finally, it includes an extensive account of the shows presented in San José between 1933 and 1950, the representations and the censored films, according to the main newspapers and magazines of the time.
