ambiente (bosque primario [BP], bosque secundario [BS]
During 2009, ticks were collected and identified from the following environment (primary forest [BP], secondary forest [BS], and pasture [P]), and ticks on domestic animals (cattle, cattle and pasture [P]), and ticks on domestic animals (bovine, equine and canine), from six regions (North Pacific, North America, South America, and the Caribbean), equines and canines), from six regions (North Pacific, Northern Zone, Atlantic Zone, Central Plateau, South Pacific, and Central Pacific) and seven Central Pacific) and seven localities of Costa Rica. The CO2 trapping CO2 trapping and banding method was used for vegetation ticks, and the manual and the manual extraction method was used for ticks on domestic animals. on domestic animals. Tick identification was carried out using dichotomous using dichotomous keys, and some specimens were confirmed by molecular molecular techniques (PCR and sequencing). sequencing).
