Resumen
Costa Rica, por su posición geográfica goza de la influencia del Mar Caribe y del Océano Pacífico, esto ha permitido iniciar una nueva industria, la del cultivo de camarón marino. Para tal fin, se utilizan especies pertenecientes al género Penaeus, siendo este importante por su alto valor nutritivo y comercial. (Primavera, 1985) Para poder cumplir este objetivo es necesario que la actividad tenga asegurada la materia prima. Son dos las posibles fuentes de abastecimientos de larva de camarón: su captura en el medio natural, sujeta a variaciones cíclicas y la reproducción controlada en el laboratorio.
Costa Rica, due to its geographical position, enjoys the influence of the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, this has allowed to start a new industry, that of marine shrimp farming. For this purpose, species belonging to the genus Penaeus are used, this being important due to its high nutritional and commercial value. (Spring, 1985) In order to meet this objective it is necessary that the activity has the raw material insured. There are two possible sources of shrimp larvae supplies: their capture in the natural environment, subject to cyclical variations, and controlled reproduction in the laboratory.
