The Costa Rican Electricity Institute has bamboo plantations of the Guadua angustifolia Kunth species on its properties bordering the Arenal reservoir, which were planted for purposes that were not achieved for multiple reasons. This has caused a progressive degradation of the phytosanitary status of the stocks and the potential loss of the resource. The sustainable management of the guaduales, through an associative business model, facilitates the integral management of the properties; promotes social development through the incorporation of stakeholders and improves the quality of the stand, generating economic income and guaranteeing, over time, the benefits from the ecosystem services generated by these plantations. It is proposed to address the central problem of sustainable management of Guadua plantations, through a multi-criteria analysis, taking as a reference the Social, Economic and Environmental dimensions, as well as a series of sub-criteria associated to each dimension, with the purpose of prioritizing four proposed models of business associativity. From this analysis, the model with the highest resulting weighting value is the Cooperative with 38%, followed by the models Associations and Corporations with 22% each and Foundations with 18%.
