This research aims to inform readers about the dynamics, conditions, and family factors that influence the formation of sexuality in a group of adolescent girls from the Central Valley who attended the Francisca Carrasco secondary school and who have mild mental disabilities. To this end, the information collected for the research was organized and based on four confidential information tests for both parents and the adolescents. This project is based on a qualitative approach, as it addresses the feelings, emotions, and experiences of the members within their families, based on their own discourse and that of their families. The adolescents involved require a great deal of information and support, which they lack due to fears, shortcomings, insecurity, and mistrust, both from their parents and from the adolescents themselves. Even Costa Rican society and families, regardless of their composition, continue to associate sexuality with sex and continue to categorize it as something evil and sinful, even passing it on to new generations. Adolescents, family, and disability have historically constituted one of the fundamental parts of the society in which we live and have been some of the areas of study within the Social Sciences. The need to complete the different areas in a single investigation, and to allow the connection of different aspects, was what gave rise to this work, and to the interests that people with some type of disability demand within society. Therefore, at the educational and health levels, with a social system to which we all belong, the three factors on which this research focuses are key elements for study and understanding. The Social Sciences, and especially Psychology, have been interested in the arduous work of advancing issues related to sexuality and disability in families and adolescents, for the benefit of families as the main focus, without considering adolescents in their living conditions, a reason that cannot be ignored given the situation they experience as human beings.
