El agro costarricense en perspectiva histórica: un balance

Abstract

Como parte de su interés hacia el campo de la historiografía la Escuela de Historia de la Universidad Nacional se abocó a la tarea de preparar durante 1988 un balance de los estudios históricos sobre el agro en Costa Rica desde el periódo colonial hasta el presente.El momento era oportuno, por cuanto concluía una etapa de pesquísas individuales sobre aspectos específicos de la historia rural costarricense, al iniciarse -tras amplia reflexión- el desarrollo de un programa colectivo de investigación sobre esta temática, asociada de manera cada vez más estrecha a la extensión y la docencia.

As part of its interest in the field of historiography, the School of History of the National University undertook the task of preparing during 1988 a balance of historical studies on agriculture in Costa Rica from the colonial period to the present. It was opportune, since a stage of individual research on specific aspects of Costa Rican rural history was ending, when - after extensive reflection - began the development of a collective research program on this subject, associated more and more closely with the extension and teaching.
