As part of the project dedicated to fostering innovation ecosystems, the Tropical Beekeeping Research Center of the Universidad Nacional contributed to the application of the Excellence in the Management of Organizational Innovation (EMOI) model in conjunction with a beekeeping company for the development of a value-added product. This model facilitates the transfer of knowledge from the university to the companies, transforming current innovation needs into concrete challenges and, after their resolution, into tangible benefits for all the groups involved in the organizations. The program made it possible to obtain non-reimbursable funds for product development. The objective was focused on developing a value-added product in collaboration with a beekeeping company through the application of the EMOI model, promoting university-industry knowledge transfer and generating tangible benefits for the stakeholders involved. In the methodology, the EMOI model was applied as a structured approach to manage innovation in organizations, which includes in one of its components the University-Company collaboration. As a first stage, the beekeeping company defined: the innovation drivers, the demand profile, the value proposition, the innovation space and the expected results synthesized in the Innovation Challenge.
