Vivencias culturales, sociales y emocionales que caracterizan a los adultos mayores del Hogar de Ancianos Monseñor Delfín Quesada Castro, durante el I semestre, año 2010.

Abstract

El presente estudio tuvo como propósito, investigar las vivencias culturales, sociales y emocionales que caracterizan a los adultos mayores del Hogar de Ancianos Monseñor Delfín Quesada Castro, durante el primer semestre, año 2010. El mismo fue elaborado bajo el enfoque de la investigación cualitativa. La literatura consultada muestra el significativo aumento de la población adulta mayor, describe el proceso de envejecimiento, evidencia la necesidad de apreciar los valores, costumbres y tradiciones; así como las necesidades sociales y emocionales que presentan las personas de la tercera edad; del mismo modo describe las vivencias que ocurren dentro del hogar de ancianos, desmitificando la creencia de que los adultos mayores internos en un hogar se encuentran abandonados. Para registrar el proceso de sistematización de la información, se utilizaron entrevistas individuales y grupales, discusiones, lluvias de ideas, videos y observaciones. La población en estudio estuvo conformada por los miembros del hogar de ancianos, de ellos se extrajo la muestra de 3 hombres y 3 mujeres, que cumplieron cuatro condiciones: tener entre 65 y 80 años, haber permanecido en el Hogar tres años como mínimo, tener hijos y haber concluido la educación básica primaria. Los resultados obtenidos son mayoritariamente positivos en relación con las variables, ya que los entrevistados presentan en general un estado de equilibrio en las tres áreas de estudio, así mismo la permanencia en el hogar es satisfactoria para el adulto mayor, ya que siente libertad para vivir y expresarse dentro de la institución, donde se respetan y comparten las vivencias de cada individuo.The purpose of this study was to investigate the cultural, social and emotional experiences that characterize the older adults of the Monseñor Delfín Quesada Castro Home for the Elderly during the first semester of 2010. It was elaborated under the qualitative research approach. The literature consulted shows the significant increase of the elderly population, describes the aging process, evidences the need to appreciate the values, customs and traditions, as well as the social and emotional needs of the elderly; it also describes the experiences that occur within the nursing home, demystifying the belief that the elderly in a home are abandoned. Individual and group interviews, discussions, brainstorming, videos and observations were used to record the information systematization process. The population under study consisted of the members of the home for the elderly, from whom a sample of 3 men and 3 women were drawn, who met four conditions: being between 65 and 80 years old, having stayed in the home for at least three years, having children and having completed primary education. The results obtained are mostly positive in relation to the variables, since the interviewees generally present a state of equilibrium in the three areas of study, likewise the permanence in the home is satisfactory for the elderly, since they feel free to live and express themselves within the institution, where the experiences of each individual are respected and shared.
