This research aimed to understand high school students' perspectives on the preparation of research reports and all aspects related to their format, resources, and participation in projects and activities carried out nationally in technical schools across the country. These activities seek educational and professional growth through research and proposal development. A qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach was used, with the participation of 98 students from three technical schools majoring in Executive Secretarial Studies, Accounting, and Tourism. Questions were asked about the frequency with which they conduct research, the format, topics of interest, obstacles and common mistakes when conducting research, as well as the educational and personal resources available to them. The result was that, for the student, it is important to research and they project themselves as technological researchers who take advantage of applications, the ease of searching for instant and free information, and are familiar with the format and writing standards. However, they face obstacles such as low intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, a lack of soft skills necessary for teamwork, and a lack of knowledge of the research process.
