The objective of this project was to promote the development of a strategy for preventing suicidal behavior in adolescents, targeting staff of public institutions in Costa Rica. The process lasted one year and two months and was carried out with officials from various public and non-governmental institutions, and with adolescent students living in areas with the highest suicide rates in the country. During this period, documentary research, consultations with experts and technical staff from various institutions, and various activities with adolescents were conducted using a participatory methodology and based on important conceptual references that provided the theoretical framework for the project: the health psychology approach and the public health model. Among the most important results is the production of a practical guide entitled "Preventing Suicidal Behavior in Adolescents: A Practical Guide for Staff of Public Institutions in Costa Rica" aimed at staff of public institutions to address the prevention of suicidal behavior and the strengthening of protective behaviors and factors in adolescents. The process concluded with a theoretical and practical validation of the Guide with five national and international professionals and 143 adolescents from different regions of the country.
