Costa Rican higher education has study offers to develop and potentiate the knowledge and skills of students in the field of chemistry, a central science interrelated with all branches of scientific knowledge. In this context, an investigation of the methodology applied in the teaching of chemistry in diversified education and its relationship with higher education is carried out, enhancing the success in student promotion. In terms of methodology, three aspects were proposed, which are: to contrast the evaluation criteria and instruments used in the subject of Chemistry in the 10th and 11th levels of the Diversified Education of the Ministry of Public Education, as well as in the course of Chemistry I of the National University, teaching methodologies, and the design of a tool that links both teaching models. Each one with its respective dimensions and expected learning indicators, from which the instruments used for the analysis of this research were constructed. This research proposal belongs to the naturalistic paradigm, because it allows the study of human actions and the mixed approach, since it collects, analyzes and links qualitative and quantitative data in the same study. The analysis and interpretation of the data obtained in the research was represented by means of explanations, the development of the ideas generated as a result of the interviews and observations applied to the research subjects, for a better understanding of the data collected, which were distributed according to the order of the specific objectives set forth. Finally, a didactic proposal is designed for the Chemistry teacher to develop with his students, which focuses on the use of a laboratory notebook and experimental practices.
