This working paper presents the results of a survey applied to micro-entrepreneurs of both Liberia and La Cruz Central districts, and Santa Cecilia de la Cruz, which is part of a study seeking the main features of this productive segment in order to provide inputs for public policy. The information was obtained through interviews to micro-entrepreneurs detected in those districts. Interviewees were asked about their socio economic and demographic characteristics; production and marketing, and their relationships with the institutional support platform. The results show that the studied microenterprise activity is of subsistence, with important participation of women, which means to most families as their main income and which has been exerted along their medium and long-term path of life, by people mainly in middle age. The results imply for the institutional platform that regional characteristics should be considered; the local space generate differences in the operationalization and entrepreneurialism. Local sectoral dynamics continue to have a central role in the generation of new productive and enchainment processes; however it does not include this business group.
