The materials included in this book comprise the Call for Papers for the VIII International Meeting of Critical Thought: Emancipatory Critical Thought in the Face of Market Totalitarianism and the Rise of the Far Right. This Call synthesizes key ideas and guides the presentation of papers for reflection and discussion during the Meeting. It was the result of preparatory sessions held by the Critical Thought Group. Following this are the texts presented by the international members of the Critical Thought Group. The second part of the book discusses the issue of fundamentalisms, neo-fascisms, and radicalisms, as expressed in the rise of the far right. The third part includes papers that explore the civilizational crisis and the urgent need to find ways to guarantee the sustainability of our societies. The fourth part presents contributions and discussions surrounding the core of the humanism of praxis and its alternatives. Finally, it is reiterated that this 8th edition of the international meetings on critical thinking pays heartfelt tribute to the master and friend Franz J. Hinkelammert (1931-2023), in whose extensive and valuable work we find concepts, orientations and insights to be developed, valid and current to optimistically address the crucial task of critically dismantling fundamentalisms of different kinds, including neoliberal conservatism, neofascism and the advances of the far right in the world, among others, rising trends that imply the destruction of the possible, not only in structural and institutional terms, but in terms of the very possibility of living as humanity and as nature. Therefore, Part Five of the book is dedicated to honoring our friend and mentor. The International Meetings of Critical Thought pay heartfelt tribute to our mentor and friend Franz J.
