Resumen
La monografía se plantea la posibilidad de que la traducción oficial y la traducción fan de
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows puedan describirse por las normas que las rigen, vistas
éstas desde la perspectiva de la teoría de las normas en la traducción de Gideon Toury. Para tal
fin, se eligen ocho ejemplos de los momentos más esperados de la saga para establecer la
aceptabilidad de cada uno, en primera instancia al analizar los cambios realizados para
determinar las normas iniciales y operacionales en ambas traducciones y luego identificar la
influencia de fuentes extratextuales en ambas traducciones, para lo cual se cuenta con el aporte
metodológico de Siobhan Brownlie. Una vez analizados los ejemplos, se logra constatar que la
traducción oficial y la fan realizan cambios en todas las categorías, pero en menor o mayor
cantidad y con distinta finalidad. Así mismo, la naturaleza de estos cambios muestra que la
traducción oficial tiende hacia la aceptabilidad, mientras que la traducción fan tiende a la
idoneidad. En lo que respecta los elementos extratextuales, se logra demostrar que existen
presiones editoriales y mercadológicas sobre la traductora oficial, mientras que en la
traducción fan se observa una presión de grupo.
