Many ecological problems come from the divergence that exists between the capacity of the land and the use that is given to it because they are areas that should be used for forestry purposes and are commonly accelerated to use them as pastures. It is estimated that half of the current area used for pasture in Costa Rica should be used only for permanent crops or for forests (Hall, 1985). In the highly deforested areas in the foothills of Monte del Aguacate, in the Province of Alajuela, there has been a high acceleration of the forest to produce pastures. The restoration of areas like these could be done by favoring ecological relationships that allow the regeneration of native forest species.
