La evolución del Estado en Costa Rica: una primera aproximación general (1821-1979)

Abstract

Presenta una análisis socio-político de la evolución del Estado en este período destacando los períodos más significativos por los que ha pasado. Un primer período es el de 1821 al 1890 que comprende la formación del Estado Oligárquico abarcando la organización del primer Estado Nacional. El segundo período incluye la implantación y consolidación del estado oligárquico de 1842 al 1882. Un rasgo que destaca el autor para todo el siglo XIX es el repudio al militarismo al punto de que estas siempre después de un golpe de estado bajaban del poder y llamaban a elecciones.This paper presents a socio-political analysis of the evolution of the state during this period, highlighting the most significant phases it has undergone. The first period spans from 1821 to 1890 and encompasses the formation of the oligarchic state, including the organization of the first national state. The second period covers the establishment and consolidation of the oligarchic state from 1842 to 1882. A feature the author highlights throughout the 19th century is the rejection of militarism, to the extent that, following a coup d’état, the military would always step down from power and call for elections.
