This work is inspired by the need to have a text that serves as a reference general, in the Spanish language, to the students of the first year of studies of RI, in principle but not limited to the curriculum of the School of International Relations of the National University. Although a second stage cannot be ruled out in which it is projected as a work directed to other academies in different Spanish-speaking countries. Therefore, from that perspective, it constitutes a first approximation. The book is divided into two parts. The first refers to the main fundamentals of RI as a discipline; with a notable absence: that of the factors determining factors of the ri; question that has hardly been addressed since M. Merlé raised it in the 1970s. The second contains some proposals on different thematic areas that make up RI; of course it is not a comprehensive approach to all areas. On the contrary, it is necessary to recognize that, For various reasons, some were left out of this first project; how is he obvious case of international politics and I must acknowledge in my capacity as editor, that it was not an intentional or premeditated decision, but a lack of coordination during the work development.
