La noción de puerto en la obra pictórica de Max Jiménez Huete

Abstract

El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar la noción de “puerto” en la obra pictórica del artista costarricense Max Jiménez Huete (1900-1947) desde una perspectiva semiótica y cultural. Es fundamental señalar que la propuesta visual del artífice se caracteriza por retomar la figura del afrodescendiente, al mismo tiempo, promueve un discurso de ruptura con el arte hegemónico costarricense. Dicha disrupción fomenta la representatividad de otras voces y otros paisajes, además de simbolizar el puerto como un espacio de intercambio cultural y festividad carnavalesca

The present article aims to analyze the notion of "port" in the pictorial work of the Costa Rican artist Max Jimenez Huete (1900-1947) from a semiotic and cultural perspective. It is fundamental to point out that the visual proposal of the architect is characterized by retaking the figure of the Afro-descendant and by promoting a discourse of rupture with the Costa Rican hegemonic art. This disruption fosters the representation of other voices and other landscapes, as well as symbolizing the port as a space for cultural exchange and Carnival festivity.
