Resumen
Se extrajo el pigmento astaxantina de los desechos del langostino Procambarus clarkii y del camarón rojo Solencera agaesiz, utilizando aceite de soya. Se obtuvo una cantidad promedio de 22.1 mg de astaxanthin /100 g de aceite de soya de los desechos del langostino y de 104.2 mg de astaxantina /100 g de aceite de los desechos del camarón rojo, cantidad que es más alta que la extraída de desechos de otros crustáceos al utilizar métodos más sofisticados. Por lo tanto, estos desechos tienen un gran potencial para ser utilizados como fuente de pigmento natural, especialmente para la dieta de salmonídeos y en la pigmentación de aves y las yemas de sus huevos.
The astaxanthin pigment was extracted from Procambarus clarkii and Solenocera agassizii wastes using a soilbean oil process. Extracts containing 22.1 mg of astaxanthin/100 g of oil and 104.2 mg of astaxanthin/100 g of oil were prepared fron crawfish (P. crarkii) and red shrimp (S.agassizzi) wastes respectively. The 104.2mg of astaxanthin/100 g of oil is highest than those reported for other crustacean waste. Therefore, red shrimp wastes has a good poryencial as a natural pigment source, notably in aquatic diets for salmonid fishes, laying hens and the yolk ok their eggs.
