Planetary Well-Being from the Economy: Examples “Pura Vida”

Abstract

The human species and other species require the planet’s ecosystems for their existence. It is a fact that the healthy survival of all species requires food, water, air, climate stability, genetic diversity and other elements of nature. In other words, the health of the planet’s ecosystems is fundamental to the health of humans and non-humans. We live in an interdependent system, connected to each other, and where human actions and pressure on the environment negatively impact the health of ecosystems.

La especie humana y otras especies necesitan los ecosistemas del planeta para su existencia. Es un hecho que la supervivencia saludable de todas las especies requiere alimentos, agua, aire, estabilidad climática, diversidad genética y otros elementos de la naturaleza. En otras palabras, la salud de los ecosistemas del planeta es fundamental para la salud de los seres humanos y los no humanos. Vivimos en un sistema interdependiente, conectado entre sí, y donde las acciones humanas y la presión sobre el medio ambiente impactan negativamente en la salud de los ecosistemas.
