The main objective of this work is to establish a geodetic network that serves as an input to carry out deformation studies in the Irazú volcano, which serve as support for interdisciplinary monitoring. A first geodesic network of seven points was established so that it will cover the largest possible area of the top of the volcano and a second network of four points, external, on the slopes of the volcano. The measurements were made only in the planimetric part and both networks were linked to each other through GPS measurements. The deformation studies were carried out after having obtained a minimum of two measurement epochs. In March 2007, the first time of measurement with GPS technology and methodology was carried out for both networks. The standard deviations of the fitted coordinates of the points varied between ±1.8mm and ±4.6mm. In November, seven months after the first measurement season, the second season was carried out. The standard deviations of the coordinates of the points varied between ± 0.9 mm and ± 4.8 mm.
