Análisis de la novela El arpa y la sobra de alejo carpentier

Abstract

El tema de El arpa y la sombra es bastante sencillo: trata del proceso que el papa Pío IX emprende para la beatificación del descubridor de América, Cristóbal Colón. El texto gira en torno a la figura de Colón, pero contrario a la historiografía tradicional difiere de la imagen que se tiene de Cristóbal Colón, nos ofrece una vision humanista. Al inicio y al final del libro se compara a Colón con MOISES, con SAN PEDRO, justificando esto su canonización. El discurso narrativo crea su propia sátira a esta condición por medio del personaje central en sus diferentes actuaciones.

The theme of The Harp and the Shadow is quite simple: it deals with the process that Pope Pius IX undertakes for the beatification of the discoverer of America, Christopher Columbus. The text revolves around the figure of Columbus, but contrary to traditional historiography, it differs from the image we have of Christopher Columbus, it offers us a humanist vision. At the beginning and end of the book, Columbus is compared to Moses, to St. Peter, justifying his canonization. Narrative discourse creates its own satire to this condition by means of the central character in his different performances.
