Resumen
En el desarrollo del Estado – nación moderna, se buscó por
diferentes medios la conformación de sentimientos e identidades
nacionales y locales. La monumentalidad escultórica no solo es
una de las más usadas, sino también la que es considerada como
prototípica en dicha creación de identidades. Ahora bien, la
creación de un discurso o discursos sobre el mensaje de dichos
monumentos pasa por la problemática de la lectura de un texto
multimodal y, sobre todo, por la dificultad de medir el impacto
relativo de cada monumento en el público. El presente trabajo
trata de hacer un acercamiento a una lectura de la discursividad
sobre la historia patria, que se encuentra en los monumentos
escultóricos externos costarricenses en sitios públicos, tratando
de salvar las problemática señaladas. Para este fin, utilizando un
listado de obras publicado el 2015, se utilizarán las características
cualitativas de los monumentos para analizar el posible discurso
de la historia patria en las esculturas, utilizando como metáfora
operativa un libro-álbum de estampas de historia nacional. De esta manera, al final puede denotarse que en este “libro de historia”
se exaltan valores concretos para cada periodo histórico del país,
utilizando selectivamente diferentes metodologías discursivas
según el periodo histórico referido.

The sculptural monumentality is not only one of the most used, but which is considered to be prototypical in this creation of identities. However, the creation of a speech or speeches about the message of these monuments faces the problem of reading a multimodal text and, above all, the difficulty of measuring the relative impact of each monument in the public. This paper tries to make an approach to reading about the discursivity of homeland history, found in Costa Rican external sculptural monuments in public places, trying to overcome the problems identified. For this end, using a list of works published in 2015, the qualitative characteristics of the monuments will be used to analyze the possible discourse of national history in sculptures, using a national history photo print book as an operative metaphor Thus, at the end, it can be denoted that specific values are exalted for each historical period of the country in this “history book” selectively using different discursive methodologies depending on the historical period concerned.
