Relatos no-miméticos costarricenses en la revista Páginas Ilustradas, recopilación y estudio (1904-1908)

Abstract

El objetivo primordial de esta investigación es recopilar, comentar y analizar relatos no-miméticos hallados en la revista Páginas Ilustradas, en los años que van de 1904 a 1908. Los relatos no-miméticos se definen como aquellos que no van de acuerdo con las normas establecidos por la academia del momento. En el caso concreto de este trabajo, los parámetros que hacían a un texto estar conforme a lo aceptado consistían en hablar de la identidad costarricense, el nacionalismo, la familia, la educación. Todo lo que ayudara a construir el imaginario ideal y cómo se debía definir la persona costarricense, sus valores y visiones del mundo. Un ejemplo concreto de esto, son los cuadros de costumbres; con esto en mente, un relato no-mimético, se refiere a narraciones que se salen de la línea nacionalista y exploran diversas temáticas alejadas de las reflexiones entorno a la identidad costarricense. Un gran vehículo para la preservación y la difusión de estos textos fueron las revistas culturales, que tuvieron gran auge en la Costa Rica de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX. Estas se encontraban en el centro del quehacer cultural, artístico y literario en Costa Rica, lo que quiere decir que las ideologías, la política, los intereses religiosos y sociales afectaban directamente las publicaciones de la revista, tanto por los escritores, que también estaban empapados del contexto cultural del momento, como por los editores, quienes escogían los textos a publicar. A partir de esta revisión, se realiza una recopilación de seis relatos, de 4 autores diferentes, de los cuales se obtiene una edición anotada. Estos relatos son: «Eugenía», «La estatua» (ambos de Ramón Zelaya), «Telepatías» (de C), «Olga», «El Doctor Prodoski» (ambos por León Fernández Guardia) «Átomo» (de Enrique Hine Saborío). Esta investigación explora los diferentes temas y características que aportan cada uno de los textos recopilados.The main objective of this research is to collect, comment and analyze non mimetic stories found in the magazine Páginas Ilustradas, in the years from 1904 to 1908. Non-mimetic stories are defined as those that do not go according to the norms established by the academy of the time. In the specific case of this work, the parameters that made a text conform to what was accepted consisted of talking about Costa Rican identity, nationalism, family, education. Everything that would help to build the ideal imaginary and how the Costa Rican person should be defined, their values and visions of the world. A concrete example of this are the cuadros de costumbres; with this in mind, a non-mimetic story refers to narratives that go beyond the nationalist line and explore various themes far from reflections on Costa Rican identity. A great vehicle for the preservation and dissemination of these texts were cultural magazines, which had a great boom in Costa Rica at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. These were at the center of cultural, artistic and literary work in Costa Rica, which means that ideologies, politics, religious and social interests directly affected the publications of the magazine, both by the writers, who were also steeped in the cultural context of the time, and by the editors, who chose the texts to be published. From this review, a compilation of six stories is made, by 4 different authors, of which an annotated edition is obtained. This research explores the different themes and characteristics that each of the collected texts contribute.
