Technological change is a primary requirement and a determining factor in the dynamization and development of agriculture. The current context, characterized inter alia by the need of exports and the overall increase in the level of economic activity, the growing openness of the economy and the great competition in the markets, needs a diversified and efficient agricultural sector, which requires as condition for its development of the deepening of its technification, that is, of technological modernization. However, technological change in Latin American agriculture has defined from its insertion in the world market. This implies the acquisition of international technology, not necessarily suitable for regional conditions and, the export of agricultural products that are precisely served with the technology coming from the central dominant countries. This explains an agro-export with a high import content.
