A clinical internship in cattle and pigs was carried out through field trips to specialized farms in the towns of: Póas, Orotina, San Rafael and Barva in Heredia, Sardinal, Chomes, Jacó, Esterillos and Guápiles in Costa Rica during 2022. The objective of the internship was to strengthen and reinforce the knowledge acquired in the veterinary medicine career by applying theory in practice, in the areas of internal medicine, reproduction, preventive medicine and surgical procedures, in cattle and pig herds. A total of 357 hours of work were done, in which approximately 1200 pigs and 1900 cattle were attended, to which procedures and treatments were performed as required by case. Among them, the most frequent were the diagnoses of reproductive, digestive, and respiratory pathologies, as well as the treatment of diagnostic affectations to these systems. In addition, two clinical cases were presented: Treatment of a group of piglets due to diarrhea & dislocation of the abomasum in a bovine. The internship strengthens and develop skills in dealing with internal medicine, surgery and reproduction cases in bovine and swine herds. In addition, to gain experience in community engagement, interacting with owners and workers through of farm visits was a fundamental key.
