Resumen
Las abejas constituyen el grupo de polinizadores más
importante de la flora nativa y de los cultivos agrícolas.
Mediante los servicios ecosistémicos, son las responsables
de la reproducción de una amplia diversidad
de plantas y cultivos. “En el Centro de Investigaciones Apícolas
Tropicales (CINAT), como parte de la misión histórica, se ha generado
y divulgado conocimiento esencial para comprender su rol
vital e incidir en su conservación y manejo sostenible. Mediante
el estudio de las abejas, sus productos y aplicaciones, se ha propiciado
el desarrollo e innovación de la apicultura y meliponicultura
como actividades de importancia ecológica y socioeconómica en
el país y a nivel internacional” (CINAT, 2022).
