Caracterización de la vegetación silvestre circundante y asociada al cultivo del melón (Cucumis melo L) e identificación de especies hospederas de los principales virus que lo afectan y sus vectores

Abstract

El presente estudio, se identificaron las hospedadoras naturales de PRSV, WMV-2, CMV y ZYMV por ELISA; y de su principal agente vector phis gossypii Glover, en comunidades vegetales previamente seleccionadas de dos fincas productoras de melón para la exportación en distintas épocas del año, en Costa Rica. La información obtenida en este estudio, tiene implicaciones importantes para la implementación de medidas de control, que permitan minorizar los daños causado por este virus y su principal vector.

In the present study, the natural hosts of PRSV, WMV-2, CMV and ZYMV were identified by ELISA; and its main vector agent phis gossypii Glover, in previously selected plant communities of two melon-producing farms for export at different times of the year, in Costa Rica. The information obtained in this study has important implications for the implementation of control measures that allow minimizing the damage caused by this virus and its main vector.
