Resumen
El presente artículo da cuenta de una experiencia realizada en la Región Brunca de Costa Rica en el contexto de la educación superior pública y del desarrollo social. Partió de un accionar conjunto entre las instituciones del Estado y la comunidad organizada de las ONG, las asociaciones de desarrollo, las cooperativas, las empresas privadas, entre otras. La experiencia, cuyo resultado fueron dos encuentros con los actores sociales de los grupos organizados, fue auspiciada desde la Universidad Nacional, en la Región Brunca, a partir de la inquietud de planificar el quehacer universitario conjuntamente con los actores sociales como una forma de acercarse al desarrollo comunal. El primer encuentro se realizó en noviembre de 2004 para discutir el estado de la región desde la perspectiva cultural, educativa, agrícola, industrial, y de comunicación. Un segundo encuentro se realizó en mayo de 2009. Allí las organizaciones expusieron propuestas concretas de su accionar frente al desarrollo local. El artículo propone que esta experiencia, puede ser implementada en cualquier universidad pública de Centroamérica.
This article presents an academic experience carried out in Costa Rica’s Brunca Region in the context of the public university education and social development. The project gathered governmental institutions, NGO, Community Development Associations, cooperative unions and, private enterprises to work together. The project was supported and directed by Universidad Nacional, Brunca Region, and it was carried out throughout two different meetings. These meetings set off the need on planning university role in our society together with all those social participants involved in order to bring the university closer to the communities with the aim of having a deeper impacto on community development. The first meeting was held on November, 2004 and in it analyzed the cultural, educational, agricultural, industrial and communication technologies reality of the region. The second meeting was took place on May, 2011. There, different organizations presented proposal and specific actions to further promote communities local development. This article points out that similar experiences may eventually be implemented by any public university in Central America.
