Asalto al Paraíso o “los peces dorados en los ojos de Catalina”

Abstract

Rodrigo Quesada indica que intenta evaluar la novela "Asalto al paraíso" de Tatiana Lobo. Novela que permite reflexionar sobre las prácticas culturales en Costa Rica en los últimos 20 años. Considera que es una de las novelas más bellas, inteligentes y artísticas de Costa Rica, en la que la historia es sólo la excusa para una bellísima lectura de nuestro presente. En el contexto de celebración del Quinto Centenario del Descubrimiento de América, Lobo escribe la novela "Asalto al paraíso", que se sirve de la historia para decirle al costarricense que se estaban quedando sin historia (no recuerdan la historia pasada, sus personajes patrios). Quiso rescatar al héroe indígena Pablo Presbere, quien a principios del Siglo XVIII logró impedir que la conquista de Talamanca tuviera lugar y que se postergara por cien años más. Siendo la figura de Presbere una excusa para reflexionar sobre la Costa Rica de hoy, tan presentista, para legitimar sus mitos y supersticiones ideológicas.
