This work was proposed as a research problem to determine which of the Rights of the Child are known and applied in the Vargas Araya Shelter, attended by the Patronato Nacional de la Infancia, during the year 2021. An eclectic methodology was proposed that applied procedures of quantitative research as well as qualitative research, which allow reaching conclusions such as: The high degree of knowledge of some of the Rights, on the part of the girls and caregivers, but their little application within the Shelter. The most deeply violated right is that of Education, given that only one of the ten girls in the center attends formal education, the other nine lack primary education. On the other hand, only one girl, disabled, goes out to work in a normal eight-hour day, with a symbolic salary, which is evidence of child labor exploitation. Another noteworthy aspect of this study is that the girls lack recreational and sports activities, given the cramped and overcrowded conditions in the dormitories of the shelter. Finally, the shelter is seen as a place of confinement rather than a place of optimal development for the girls.
