Resumen
Pueden realizarse intervenciones educativas de estimulación cognitiva en adultos mayores con la finalidad de mantenerlos autovalentes por mayor tiempo. En condiciones de alta vulnerabilidad social, los adultos mayores pueden ser objeto de intervenciones simples, pero estimulantes, realizadas por profesionales técnicos competentes en el área. De este modo, es posible lograr el estímulo mental del adulto mayor. Este logro puede alcanzarse a través del simple razonamiento matemático acerca de la suma o resta de los insumos que compró para preparar su almuerzo o del ordenamiento y distribución de sus gastos del mes; en el área de lenguaje, pueden realizarse ejercicios con refranes o aprender el significado de una nueva palabra, lo que permitirá al adulto ampliar sus conocimientos. Lo importante es que la entrega de esta información sea didáctica y acorde con su nivel educacional.
Education interventions for cognitive stimulation of older people can be executed with the purpose of keeping them self-reliant as much time as possible. In conditions of high social vulnerability, older people can receive simple and stimulating interventions carried out by technical professional experts in the area. In this way it is possible to achieve mental stimulation in older people. This achievement can be reached through mathematical reasoning about addition or subtraction of supplies to prepare lunch, or the order and distribution of their monthly expenses. Also language-related exercises with proverbs or learning new words can be done; so, adults can increase their knowledge. What is important is to pass on this information in a didactic way and in accordance with their level of education.
