Resumen
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar el efecto agudo del uso de las redes
sociales, con teléfonos inteligentes, sobre el rendimiento deportivo de jugadores de
tenis de mesa respecto a la velocidad de reacción, la precisión de ejecución del
golpe y la concentración. Participaron 14 atletas jóvenes (7 hombres, 7 mujeres)
(edades: 10.86 ± 1.83 años), quienes forman parte del club de tenis de mesa
(experiencia deportiva: 2.43 ± 0.65 años). Este estudio presenta un diseño
cuasiexperimental comparativo aleatorizado y contrabalanceado. Se evaluaron
cuatro variables: Stroop Test, velocidad de reacción, prueba específica de tenis de
mesa, concentración (Test de Toulouse-Piéron). Se encontraron diferencias
significativas pre vs post en los aciertos, errores y puntos totales en ambos grupos
(p< 0.01). Además, no existieron diferencias significativas por grupo en los tres test
de campo. Se destaca que 30 min de GRS o GVD en niños, provoca una mejora en
los puntajes, aciertos y errores en el Stroop Test; lo que sugiere que la exposición
aguda a estímulos virtuales independientemente del tipo, provoca una potenciación
de la habilidad de control inhibitorio y atención.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the acute effect of using social networks, on smartphones, on the sports performance of table tennis players regarding reaction speed, execution accuracy of the stroke, and concentration. 14 young athletes (7 men, 7 women) (ages: 10.86 ± 1.83 years) participated, who are part of the table tennis club (sport experience: 2.43 ± 0.65 years). This study presents a randomized and counterbalanced comparative experimental design. Four variables were evaluated: Stroop Test, reaction speed, specific table tennis test, concentration (Toulouse-Piéron Test). Significant pre vs post differences were found in hits, errors, and total points in both groups (p <0.01). Additionally, there were no significant differences between the groups in the three field tests. It is highlighted that 30 minutes of GRS or GVD in children causes an improvement in scores, hits, and errors in the Stroop Test; suggesting that acute exposure to virtual stimuli regardless of type, causes an enhancement of the ability to inhibit control and attention.
