Carga térmica, salud y percepción del riesgo en trabajadores de la construcción: un estudio de caso en una empresa con operaciones en el Valle Central y el Pacífico Norte de Costa Rica

Resumen
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo explorar la condiciones de carga térmica, incluyendo la exposición a estrés térmico, en que laboran los trabajadores de la construcción en el país, así como sus posibles implicaciones en la salud, por medio de un estudio de caso con dos proyectos de una misma empresa; uno ubicado en la región geográfico-climática Pacífico Norte (PN) y otro ubicado en la región Valle Central (VC). Se realizó una visita de reclutamiento a ambos proyectos en la cual las personas investigadoras explicaron el estudio a los trabajadores. En cada proyecto externaron su interés en participar 20 personas, a las cuáles se aplicó el proceso de consentimiento informado. Y se aplicó a los participantes dos cuestionarios; uno de antecedentes médicos y uno de conocimiento/percepción sobre el riesgo del trabajo en condiciones calientes.
The objective of this study was to explore the thermal load conditions, including exposure to thermal stress, in which construction workers in the country work, as well as their possible health implications, by means of a case study with two projects of the same company; one located in the North Pacific geographic-climatic region (PN) and the other located in the Central Valley region (VC). A recruitment visit was made to both projects in which the researchers explained the study to the workers. In each project, 20 people expressed interest in participating, to whom the informed consent process was applied. Two questionnaires were administered to the participants: one on medical history and one on knowledge/perception of the risk of working in hot conditions.
