Resumen
La producción editorial en Costa Rica ha alcanzado los niveles más altos dentro de la región centroamericana. Como consecuencia el interés de la Biblioteca Nacional por contar con un mecanismo que permitiera controlara eficazmente esa producción de impresos, cada vez más creciente, se adoptó el uso del sistema ISBN en nuestro país.
Publishing production in Costa Rica has reached the highest levels in Central America. As a result, the National Library, interested in having a mechanism to effectively control this ever-increasing output of printed materials, adopted the ISBN system in our country.
