This project is based on the realization of a proposal to expand the commercial horizons of Coopeguanacaste R.L. through a water study in the communities of Santa Rita, Filadelfia and Barrio Limón in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, in order to define physical, demographic and economic characteristics to obtain suitable and concise information of the communities under study. This research will also identify the political requirements that influence Coopeguanacaste R.L. to become involved in a water supply market using three communities as a case study and based on this to highlight the importance of a pre-feasibility study using modern tools that allow adequate planning and thus define if there is a feasibility for this project. As the main instrument to fulfill the objectives of the work, steps are defined to follow in order to know the different characteristics of the communities under study. As part of this, land use maps, vegetation index, population surveys, workshops, review of data on the quality and volume of water resources in these communities, it was important to select an ASADA of each of these sites under study, to finally make a proposal for commercial expansion to Coopeguanacaste R.L. in order to determine the feasibility of the project through results, as well as to present suggestions, scope and limitations of the project under implementation. With this research we have obtained results of the percentage of vegetation, the perception of the inhabitants of these sites related to the project, analysis of water quality, among others, which allow us to expose and make known all the necessary aspects for this cooperative to enter the water distribution market. Key words: research, feasibility, distribution, water, planning.
