Resumen
Entre los años de 1960 hasta 1986 el Ministerio de Hacienda tuvo a cargo la actividad de cobro de tasa de peaje, 1987 pasa a manos del Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes mediante el Consejo de Seguridad Vial y a partir del año 1999 se traslada el control al Consejo Nacional de Vialidad del citado ministerio. La administración viene ejecutando una serie de controles sobre la actividad durante todos estos años, antes del año 1994 el cobro se realiza en forma tradicional, a partir de ese año se adquiere un Sistema Automatizado de Cobro de Tasa de Peaje, que genera una serie de reportes, los cuales permiten ejercer cierto grado de control. La evolución del cobro de tasa de peaje ha generado una serie de inquietudes y necesidades, que se han tratado de satisfacer por diferentes medios con los recursos técnicos, tecnológicos y humanos a disposición, desde ese momento, la información sobre la tasa recaudada se convirtió en factor de vital importancia para la Dirección, por ello la necesidad de contar con procedimientos, bien definidos, que provean datos correctos, estos procesos se conocen como sistemas de información.
