The research is being conducted at the INISEFOR La Amapola vegetative reproduction nursery, located in the province of Puntarenas, canton of Golfito, district of Puerto Jiménez, and town of La Palma. The most efficient control agent is being determined to prevent the onset or halt the spread of the disease known as stem rot in clonal melina plants produced at the aforementioned nursery. A scale is developed to assess the progress of the disease, which is validated during the production cycle of plants of nine different genotypes. The effectiveness of five treatments is evaluated: an absolute control, three chemical control agents, and one biological control agent. An analysis of variance and Tukey's mean test are performed between treatments to identify statistical differences (ɑ=0.05).
