Some historians of the present, specialized in the nineteenth century, inform us that a long critical period means that the century in which Karl Marx (1818-1883) lives and dies is full of violent changes and decisive transformations in the spiritual and social development of men. But those like Marx, dreamed that the crises were surmountable and that, rather, they could be redefined as the Greeks originally thought them :change to improve, to grow, to move in the direction of physical and spiritual health.
