Resumen
El Arpa y la Sombra, novela publicada en 1979 por Alejo Carpentier ofrece una versión literaria de la historia americana utilizando ampliamente la ironía, el anacronismo, la parodia y sobre todo, un procedimiento de intertextos. Básicamente, la figura de Cristóbal Colón es juzgada en tres diversos períodos históricos. Por medio de tal recurso, se propone una valoración del significado histórico de Cristóbal Colón y del modo cómo su figura ha sido criticada por diversas generaciones. Nuestro análisis pretende mostrar los procedimientos de intertextualidad por medio de los cuales Carpentier logra plasmar una visión originalísima de un hecho relevante de la historia de Hispanoamérica.
The Harp and the Shadow, a novel published in 1979 by Alejo Carpentier, offers a literary version of American history widely using irony, anachronism, parody and above all, an intertext procedure. Basically, the figure of Christopher Columbus is judged in three different historical periods. Through such a resource, an assessment of the historical significance of Christopher Columbus and the way in which his figure has been criticized by various generations is proposed. Our analysis aims to show the intertextuality procedures by means of which Carpentier manages to capture a highly original vision of a relevant event in the history of Latin America.
