Fecundidad y crecimiento relativo de Cetengraulis Mysticetus (Günther) Pisces Engraulidae, en el Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica

Abstract

Las muestras para llevar a acabo este trabajo se obtuvieron durante los meses de julio a agosto de 1997 en la parte interna del Golfo de Nicoya, específicamente entre las islas de Chira, Venado y Bejuco. Durante estos mese se pudo determinar que la proporción sexual es de 1:1.2 machos por hembras, lo cual estadísticamente no presenta diferencias significativas a la esperada 1:1. Para estimar la talla de primera madurez se utilizó los datos obtenidos en 1992, durante la realización del proyecto de Jaulas flotantes, con los cuales se pudo demostrar que esta especie Catengraulis mysticetus en el Golfo de Nicoya alcanza la talla de primera madurez a los 12.6 cm (+-3.3). Para el cálculo de la fecundidad total se utilizaron las gónadas de 50 hembras maduras en las cuales el valor máximo encontrado fue de 129, 397 oocitos en una hembra de 21.2 cm de longitud total, mientras que el mínimo fue de 16 957 oocitos encontrados en una hembra de 17.8 cm de longitud total. En cuanto a la fecundidad relativa el valor máximo obtenido fue de 1 492 oocitos por gramo de pez, mientras el mínimo fue de 365 con una medida de 873 oocitos por gramo de pez. Por otro lado se caracterizó morfológicamente Cetengraulis mysticetus en el Golfo de Nicoya por medio de la obtención de 7 índices biométricos para machos y hembras, que fueron índice alto del cuerpo, índice ancho del cuerpo, índice longitud dorsal, índice longitud cefálica, índice longitud anal, índice longitud de horquilla, índice altura del pedúnculo, solamente índice longitud dorsal fue estadísticamente diferente.

The samples to carry out this work were obtained during the months of July to August 1997 in the inner part of the Gulf of Nicoya, specifically between the islands of Chira, Venado and Bejuco. Regarding relative fertility, the maximum value obtained was 1,492 oocytes per gram of fish, while the minimum was 365 with a measurement of 873 oocytes per gram of fish. On the other hand, Cetengraulis mysticetus was morphologically characterized in the Gulf of Nicoya by obtaining 7 biometric indices for males and females, which were high body index, body width index, dorsal length index, head length index, anal length index. , fork length index, peduncle height index, only dorsal length index was statistically different.
