Resumen
Este documento tiene por objetivo analizar los factores competitivos que caracterizan los posgrados vinculados con la disciplina de las relaciones internacionales en Costa Rica y algunas referencias internacionales. Pretende ser una herramienta útil como instrumento que permita observar las características y enfoques dados a la enseñanza de esta disciplina en Costa Rica. Otras áreas del conocimiento podrían utilizar las variables descritas en este estudio para realizar análisis similares, así mismo, estudiantes de la disciplina podrían analizar las características y enfoques de la oferta de postrados en esta área, para formar un criterio propio. La investigación se realizó entre el mes de diciembre del 2014 y febrero 2015, con una muestra de 19 posgrados nacionales y nueve internacionales. La información se obtuvo mediante fuentes secundarias de datos que ofrecían los posgrados en sus páginas web. Su recolección se realizó mediante fuentes primarias con llamadas telefónicas y correos electrónicos. De lo que aporta el estudio se concluye que existe un relevante debate entre las necesidades de rigurosidad académica y la flexibilización que demanda el mercado en cuanto a las condiciones educativas asociadas a los postgrados.
The objective of this document is to analyze the factors characterizing the postgraduate programs related to the discipline of International Relations in Costa Rica, and also other international references. This paper intends to be a useful tool to observe the characteristics and approaches of teaching this discipline in Costa Rica. In other knowledge fields, the variables described in this study can be used to perform similar analysis; likewise, students of this discipline can analyze the characteristics and approaches of the postgraduate programs offer in this area to create their own criteria. This research was conducted from December 2014 to February 2015, and it included nineteen national and nine international postgraduate programs. The information was collected from secondary sources of data retrieved from websites of each postgraduate program. The data were also collected from primary sources with telephone calls and e-mails. As a conclusion from the study, there is a relevant debate between the needs of academic rigor and the flexibility the market requests in terms of education conditions associated with the postgraduate programs.
