There are organizations all over the world, whether public or private, where their most valuable resource is not their physical structure, or the great diversity of services or products, but the people who remain in them. Every organization has human elements, who are assigned tasks of great responsibility, and one of the most important of which is to ensure that a group of people perform the functions that correspond to them, under a climate of coordination and cooperation. It is not easy to find people capable of carrying out such a task. Although it is true that nowadays there are professionals specialized in this field, others, however, acquire this responsibility because of their experience in the field in which they work. These people are mostly called leaders, directors, managers, among others. Behind every organization there is a group of people who in one way or another, are part of it, whatever the function and contribution to work, they require something more than economic remuneration, such as: personal satisfaction, effective participation within the institution, a function that falls on the leader, director or manager, who must be aware that the most valuable resource is at their fingertips, they must be integrated and interested in raising the morale and performance of its employees, in order to improve the performance of each of them. In most institutions or companies, the human resource does not have the place it deserves within the organization, and it is also required to give the best of itself, quality and efficiency in its work, in short, a number of aspects that are important for the company to obtain the expected success. It is important to know what factors are required to obtain the quality and efficiency of people, as well as their basic needs, from which satisfaction is acquired inside and outside the workplace. As an example we can mention a situation that usually happens very often; when a worker strives to perform an efficient job, it could be said that he does it because he is afraid of losing his job, or he wants to make sure that he will be taken into account for a possible promotion, he wants to receive some recognition or congratulations from his boss, among other reasons. It can be assumed that the behavior of all human beings is oriented to achieve their goals. Every individual acts with a purpose. This action is intentional, it seeks objectives. This research was carried out at Banco Nacional, San Isidro de El General Branch, with the collaboration of the Directors, the branch personnel and with the approval of the Human Resources Area, Banco Regional Cartago Sur. The objective of this research was to discover the work environment at Banco Nacional, San Isidro de El General Branch, and to provide recommendations in the areas where there are a number of weaknesses that could hinder the achievement of the institution's goals and objectives.
