Apparently, there is a disjunctive or contradiction between the adjectives "American" and "Hispanic", especially when we enter into the movements that sought to disassociate the American continent from any relationship with Spain. Such movements were synthesized in the terms "Latin American" and "Pan-Americanism". The first arose from the influence of France and was common to all the Nordic-Germanic countries. The second was created by the United States to establish neocolonial guidelines, through the Pan-American Union with headquarters in Washington D.C.
