El sistema de pensiones de El Salvador ha sido uno de los últimos en instalarse en América
Latina y el Caribe. Desde la década de 1990 cuando es objeto de una reforma estructural
que privatiza el sistema y cambia su esquema a uno de contribución definida (CD), en lugar
de beneficio definido (BD), el sistema de pensiones salvadoreño sufre una serie de reformas
que han modificado sus parámetros, sus relaciones con el Estado salvadoreño y los
mecanismos de acumulación y rentabilidad. Siendo éstas últimas las prioridades de la serie
de reformas que ha tenido el sistema desde la década de 2000. En ese sentido, los
patrones de acumulación de las personas para hacer efectivo el derecho a pensión se han
visto afectados de diversas maneras.
El Salvador's pension system has been one of the last to be installed in America Latin and the Caribbean. Since the 1990s when it is the subject of a structural reform that privatizes the system and changes its scheme to a defined contribution (DC), instead of defined benefit (BD), the Salvadoran pension system undergoes a series of reforms that have modified its parameters, its relations with the Salvadoran State and the accumulation and profitability mechanisms. The latter being the priorities of the series of reforms that the system has undergone since the 2000s. In this sense, the patterns of accumulation of people to enforce the right to a pension have been been affected in various ways.
